In cleanroom design, it is common to use air handling unit systems and terminal devices such as HEPA boxes to filter the air before entering the clean room. However, there are many cases where FFU is used as a self-contained cleaning device for cleanrooms. When do we need to install fan filter unit for clean room? Here are some points for you to consider whether to choose FFUs for your clean room.
1. Cleanroom ceiling space is limited
In some cleanrooms with high cleanliness requirements, the air supply static pressure box on the upper part of the cleanroom ceiling has a great function to balance the pressure on the cross-section of the cleanroom. Fan filter units are divided into several modules. We can adjust each module (ie FFU) to meet the pressure balance requirements of the air supply static pressure box on the upper part of the ceiling, thus greatly reducing the requirements for the height of the static pressure box. In some projects, FFU effectively solves this problem when the floor height is restricted.
2. Static pressure in clean room is insufficient
In some cleanrooms, due to the limited conditions, the air supply resistance is very high. The supply of AHU cannot handle the pressure requirement for HEPA filtration. Meanwhile, fan filter unit has its own power that can create enough pressure to solve this problem.
3. The requirement of cleanliness level is high
The FFU is a self-powered, self-purifying device that continuously generates clean air to ensure air circulation in the cleanroom. When the supply of AHU is not HEPA filtered but certain cleanrooms with high levels of cleanliness such as Grade A cleanroom need HEPA or ULPA filtration, the use of an FFU appears to be a must.
